Flyfishing and flycasting instruction with John Reynolds.
There is something remarkably satisfying when your artificial fly lands exactly where you want it to. This could be to a wild brown trout in an almost impossible lie beneath an overhanging alder, or in front of a rainbow trout feeding a long way off on the ripple edge of a large reservoir.
The list of target species that can be taken on a fly rod is huge, and the list of artificial “flies” is immense. These days one could be casting an imitation crab fly to a permit, a surface popper for a pike or a squid fly to a tuna. Many of these artificials require different fly tackle and specialised casting techniques. Over the last 45 years of fly fishing I have been lucky enough to catch tiny Dace on size 20 dry flies to Marlin on 7/0 tandem baitfish flies (under IGFA regulations) and a host of other species between these two extremes. I am always delighted to discuss and advise on any fly tackle and more importantly, teach any of the casts that may be required for successful, modern fly rod fishing. I enjoy teaching both male and females of all ages and all abilities, from ten year olds through to people that have retired and at last have time to go fishing. |
